Festival celebrates the history of North Carolina

The 76th National Folk Festival is taking place next month over three days, presented by the National Council for the Traditional Arts.

This year will feature over 300 performances from more than 40 performers on seven stages. These stages will include the Family Stage, the North Carolina Traditions Stage, and the Dance Pavilion.

There will be all types of entertainment including dance and music. Some of the musicians who will be performing at this year’s festival are Jeffrey Broussard and the Creole Cowboys, Balsam Range, and Clinton Fearon and the Boogie Brown Band. Other entertainment will include the Alberti Flea Circus, the Bouncing Bulldogs, and the Dancing on Air Crew.

There is set to be a North Carolina Folklife Area hosted by the North Carolina Arts Council, a family activities area, and Master and Makers, which is a showcase of arts and crafts. Vendors will also be set up to sell handmade items such as jewelry and ceramics. Food and drink will be available for purchase too.

This annual Greensboro event attracts many residents who are interested in their history. To help spread the work, Flyers and Brochures may be distributed throughout the city and to nearby communities.

The National Folk Festival will be held in downtown Greensboro from September 9 to 11. Admission is free. To learn more about this event, call 336-373-7523.
