The 7th annual North Carolina statewide juried pastel exhibition is taking place beginning this weekend. It is presented by the Pastel Society of North Carolina in cooperation with the Piedmont Pastel Society and the Appalachian Pastel Society.
The theme of this year’s exhibition is ‘Common Ground: 2018 pastel paintings from the mountains to the sea’. As the theme suggests, most of the pieces of work on display will feature outdoor life from all parts of the state.
This year, the judge is Liz Haywood Sullivan of the Pastel Society of North Carolina; the judge also usually leads a painting workshop.
The opening reception is planned for May 19 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres and wine while they view the works on display. Tickets are free of charge but those planning to attend must RSVP by May 16.
The exhibition is an opportunity for artists from all over the state to meet some of their contemporaries and to get a sense of current trends. No doubt organizers will advertise the show by investing in the services of a Greensboro flyer printing firm.
The exhibition will be held at The Art Shop from today (May 11) to June 12. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Call 336-855-8500 to learn more.
