Women-only fly-fishing class to be offered

A one-day fly-fishing workshop just for women will be held at the John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center in Fayetteville, across from Lake Rim, later this month.

This workshop is one of many presented by the North Carolina Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) program. Attendees will participate in hands-on training from instructors who are experienced and knowledgeable on the basics of fly-fishing, and will learn about knots, casting, and fly tying. Once the basics are learned, participants will then use their new skills to fish for bluegill and largemouth bass on two ponds at the Center.

An international program, The BOW is for women aged 18 and older who want to learn outdoor skills through hands-on experiences. Across the state of North Carolina, outdoor skills at workshops include hunter safety, fishing, and archery target-shooting.

The use of brochure printing by the BOW program in North Carolina can provide more information about its workshops and help to spread the word about these opportunities for women.

The workshop will be on June 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Registration for a fee of $20 is required and availability is on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis to the first 40 participants. The fee includes all equipment, lunch, snacks, and drinks. Sunscreen, insect repellent, comfortable footwear, and clothing are recommended for those signing up.
