Vocal professor joins symphony for holiday concerts

To celebrate Independence Day, assistant professor of voice at High Point University, Dr. Scott MacLeod, will be participating in a series of ‘Concerts in Your Community’ with the North Carolina Symphony.

MacLeod will be the guest soloist and narrator for the patriotic songs and classics performed in the upcoming concerts, with Fayetteville being the first stop this month.

David Glover, Associate Conductor of the Symphony, will conduct the concerts at which MacLeod will sing such favorites as ‘When Johnny Comes Marching Home’, ‘Oh Susannah’, and ‘Old Dan Tucker’. His narration will be of ‘Casey at the Bat’. Also to be performed at the concerts will be ‘Liberty Fanfare’ by John Williams, ‘Semper Fidelis’ by John Philip Sousa, and the 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky.

This is MacLeod’s eighth performance with the Symphony since 2006. He says that he is always honored to perform with the Symphony as they are respected both in the region and across the country, and bring music to people and communities throughout the state.

MacLeod has performed in many venues locally, nationally, and abroad, including the Greensboro Opera, Carnegie Hall, and the National Symphony of Costa Rica.

Local Print companies may be used to Print programs for each concert listing the musical and vocal performances.
The event gets underway in Fayetteville tonight at 8:00 pm. On July 3, it will be in Garner, and will move on to Cary for July 4 itself.
