Social workers needed to fill void in Fayetteville
The Department of Social Services of Cumberland County, located in Fayetteville, is looking to hire quickly qualified employees.
It will be holding an “interview blitz” with 38 vacancies, 22 of which are positions in social work, and there will be 11 management teams conducting interviews with potential candidates on a single day.
According to director of the department, Brenda Reid Jackson, the hope is to be able to conduct about 60 interviews on that one day. The timing works out well, as many schools of social work in the area will have students graduating in December. Some of the schools with which the department has contact include Fayetteville State University and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
One of the education requirements for these positions is a Master's degree in social work from an accredited school. A Bachelor’s degree in social work (also from an accredited school) is also accepted provided it comes with completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative of North Carolina. Those with degrees in related fields, such as human services with experience in supportive counseling, psycho-social therapy, case management, and treatment planning will be considered as well.
Once the department has filled the requisite position, it may turn to business card for its new employees, who will most likely be excited about finding a job right after graduation.
This Saturday, December 5, is the date for the “interview blitz”.
