Fayetteville looks to build downtown ball park

City leaders from Fayetteville recently travelled to Columbia, South Carolina not only to watch a minor league baseball game, but also to learn how such a team and a stadium could benefit the city.

The city leaders will meet with their counterparts from Columbia to talk about how the stadium developed and what the outcomes are of having such a stadium in the city. They will also take a tour of the stadium.

The reason for the trip stems from a year-long study of building a stadium in Fayetteville so as to revitalize the city.

According to Jason Freier, owner of the local minor league team the Columbia Fireflies, this is the third time the Fayetteville city leaders have visited the ballpark. He added that the model for the park was a successful equivalent in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Since the Spirit Communications Park in Columbia opened this spring, projects worth close to $30m are in progress, including student housing, retail space, and restoring and renovating a historic building so as to house apartment units.

As Fayetteville city officials have visited other ballparks in Charlotte and Durham, they may turn to booklet printing companies to Print Brochures and other materials on their findings so they can distribute these to the residents of the city, and particularly those in the downtown area.
