Fayetteville invited to visit local tree farm

For those who do not know how their holiday tree is grown, cut, and made ready for sale, a Fayetteville activity will give them the inside scoop on the process.

The N.C. Cooperative Extension-Cumberland County Center will be leading a visit to a local tree farm, and a guided tour will be part of the experience. Tickets start at $5 each, and anyone who requires a disability accommodation has been asked to contact the organizers at 910-321-6880.

The group will be visiting North Lake Christmas Tree Farm, and the owner and operator will explain how trees are grown for the winter holiday market. The process of preparing evergreen wreaths will also be on the agenda, and participants can ask any questions they have. Attendees will need to provide their own lunch, or can purchase it at a local eatery. Those who register are asked to arrive at the departure point 15 minutes ahead of time.

A tour or other activity can give the public an insider’s view of a local farm, tree lot, or other agricultural operation. Copies of any handouts to be distributed can be prepared by Stationery printers.

This opportunity to learn how trees are made ready for the holiday season is scheduled for Wednesday, November 6. The bus will depart from its meet-up point at 301 East Mountain Drive at 9:00 am.
