Fayetteville has announced that is planning a major renovation of its city hall, the first of its kind since it was opened in 1990. The city has set aside $3m for the project.
The third floor will be renovated first and the two departments located there have already moved out. One of them, the administrative offices of the Fire Department, will relocate to Fire Station No. 14.
Then the third floor will be reconfigured for offices of the city manager and staff, the clerk, city attorneys, and the heads of finance and corporate communications. Next year, the second floor will be renovated, and the first floor will be redesigned in 2016.
According to the recreation director of the city who is overseeing the project, Michael Gibson, one of the main goals of the project is to make the first floor friendlier to customers. He admits that when residents have to pay for a building permit or a sign for a yard sale, it can be “a little confusing” at the moment. The vision is for a customer service center on the first floor so as to make it clearer to the public where they can go for needed services.
Flyer printing is a good way for the city to inform residents of the renovations and the benefits they will gain once the work has been completed.
