Fayetteville fishers learn how to cook their catch
The farm-to-table movement encourages communities to take full advantage of produce raised on local farms, and a Fayetteville initiative will follow this example, the difference being the food will be fresh from the water.
A workshop will soon be teaching anglers how they can take their catch and turn it into a tasty meal. Both indoor and outdoor cookery options will be discussed, and it will be a hands-on session suitable for anyone aged 16 or older.
Participants will be walked through various methods for cleaning fish, and scaling, filleting, and pan dressing will all be on the agenda. They will learn how to fry, stew and grill a fish. The fish will be provided, and the group will be able to enjoy the fruits of their labors when they eat what they cook.
A cookery class gives the public an opportunity to learn how to prepare dishes in their own home kitchen. Recipe cards and other items to hand out can be prepared by a local flyer printing company.
The John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center has made arrangements to provide this introduction to the art of cooking fish on Saturday, April 27. It is located at 7489 Raeford Road. The last date to sign up for the session is April 26, and this can be completed through its listing on Go Outdoors North Carolina.
