Fayetteville families invited for dip
While it may look calm on the surface, a pond is often full of life, and a Fayetteville activity will provide a hands-on introduction to this watery world.
The creatures viewed during the Pond Dipping family program organized by Cape Fear Botanical Garden may be small, but the activity will offer big time excitement. Participants will be using simple dip nets, and everyone should dress expecting to get wet and muddy.
Participants will also receive an introduction to some of the species they may spot such as dragonfly nymph, small fish and other creatures. They will learn the safety rules around upon dipping and also how to do so without harming the environment. There will be one hour of time spent by the pond, and families are encouraged to participate together. The registrants will check in at the venue’s gift shop, and tickets are $30.00 per family with a discount available for Garden members.
A hands-on activity can make learning more fun. Species check lists, record sheets and other handouts for an activity can be prepared by stationery printers.
This introduction to the life and times of a Fayetteville pond will be on offer on July 2nd. It will start at 10:00 am, and anyone with questions can contact 910-486-0221. The garden is situated at 536 N. Eastern Boulevard. Its website offers a registration link.
