The Missoula Writing Collaborative will be organizing a summer camp at the University of Montana for aspiring writers.
The Words with Wings Summer Camp is an engaging experience where campers will participate in writing-themed games while embarking on field trips to various inspirational locations. A few of the destinations featured in the summer camp include the University of Montana's Zoological Museum, Missoula Butterfly House and Insectarium, and the Clark Fork River. The program will also invite special guests such as musician Josh Davis and an ecologist from the Watershed Education Network.
The Missoula Writing Collaborative is an organization that shows young people the power of words while teaching them cultural awareness and literary competence. The group sends writers to venues like youth homes and classrooms to assist kids with their writing skills. The non-profit organization was formed in 1994 and is a member of The WITS Alliance. Each year, the group interacts with more than 2,000 children.
The camp will have sessions from July 11 to July 15, and from July 18 to July 22. Half-day sessions will cost $170 per camper and are held from 9:00 am to noon. Those interested in getting the full experience can pay $275 for camps that last from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Creative programs such as this may use flyer printing to promote themselves to local families.
