The Montana Natural History Center will hold a certification program with lessons at local outdoor areas throughout Missoula.
The Summer Master Naturalist Course is a program where people can learn how to properly identify local insects, birds, and plant life. Students will get to take field trips to several locations, including Pattee Canyon, Lolo Pass, and Greenough Park. The main project for the course is creating a naturalist handbook. The program also holds lab sessions and lectures to educate participants. The intensive naturalist course will be held for five days.
The program's main instructor is Christine Morris, an experienced park ranger and middle school science curriculum writer who currently works as the community programs coordinator at the Montana Natural History Center. She graduated from Stanford University and the University of Montana. Morris also teaches the Certified Interpretive Guide course and gives lectures for adults. The program may feature guest instructors such as Elena Ulev and Geoff Farinholt.
The naturalist course will be held from Monday, June 3rd to Friday, June 7th. Each class will last from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The experience will cost $450 per person. Members of the Montana Natural History Center will receive a discount for the program. Those who create educational programs such as this can utilize brochure printing services to create take-home study materials for their students.
