Missoula to hold communication conference

MonTECH will be organizing a conference in August at the University of Montana in Missoula to help those with communication issues.

MontCOMM is an annual event where guests are taught how to address the needs of people with communication challenges. Attendees will learn about augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) during the conference. The program will go over evidence-based strategies and tools that families can use to support AAC and language learning. The organizer, MonTECH, is a nonprofit that provides free training to Montanans with disabilities. The group also loans free equipment.

There will be several presenters at the event. The leading educators at the conference are Ashley Larisey and Sarah Gregory. Both women are licensed Speech-Language Pathologists who have presented at many conventions. Attendees will also hear from Jordyn Zimmerman, an AAC advocate who is the Board Chair of Communication First. Isaac Baldry is another presenter who will be at the conference.

The event will be held on Friday, August 18 from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm and will be located in the University Center Theater. Tickets to the conference will cost $100 for those who want to receive continuing education units and $50 for regular attendees. Guests can also pay to access the event virtually. Nonprofits in charge of conferences such as this may use brochure printing to make programs with schedules and links to their websites.
