Missoula to arrange weekly running series

The Snowbowl Ski Area in Missoula will host a weekly competitive running event starting in January.

The Snowbowl Rando Radness Series is a winter challenge where runners can compete each week to see how many loops they can finish within a time limit. Each route for the event will include a skin track, a bootpack, and a downhill descent. Racers will start and complete their loops at the Snowbowl base area. All competitors are required to bring their own headlamps, poles, helmets, and boots. Backpacks are also recommended for people to take to the challenge.

There are three categories that runners can compete in during the Snowbowl Rando Radness Series. The Lightweight/Race category is for those who use light race-specific gear when competing, and the Heavy Metal category is for racers who utilize alpine touring setups. Competitors may enter the Splitboard category by using a split snowboard during their runs. Points are given to those who place between 1st and 25th during each week’s challenge.

The winter running program will occur between Thursday, January 19 and Thursday, February 16. Those interested in taking part in the series may pay $18 per race or $75 for all five weeks. A party and raffle will be held during the final date of the event. Sports organizations that organize challenges like this may utilize banner printing to share their activities with local athletes.
