Missoula race to show support for veterans

The Veteran Suicide Awareness and Prevention (VSAP) Walk/Half-Marathon will be held in Missoula in May.

The VSAP event is an experience that builds a supportive community for veterans and gives people an opportunity to memorialize those who have passed. There will be three events participants can join, including a three-mile walk/run, a half-marathon, and a ruck division where entrants must carry weights to represent fallen veterans. Registrants may pick up their packets, T-Shirts, and swag Bags for the races at the Missoula Vet Center the day before the event.

The donation goal for the event is $10,000. The money earned during the fundraiser will cover the cost of the races and will be given to local non-profits that benefit veterans. People can also help the event by becoming volunteers. There are several roles to fill, such as assisting at the registration table, being guards on the road, and working at the food service station. The organizers are also looking for medical personnel to help with the event.

The VSAP races will be held on Saturday, May 20 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Joining the three-mile course will cost $10, and taking part in the half-marathon is $45. The event will take place at the Rocky Mountain Museum of Military History. People who organize activities similar to this can educate others about their causes by using brochure printing to make take-home resources.
