Missoula history center to give class on nature journaling

The Montana Natural History Center in Missoula will offer a multi-week course about nature journaling that starts in April.

Introduction to Nature Journaling is a series of courses that helps people form deeper connections with nature while improving their confidence as writers and artists. The lessons will show students how to savor their outdoor experiences and creatively capture notable moments in their Journals. The classes are open to anyone who likes the outdoors and wants to improve their creative expression. The program also teaches students how to relieve their anxiety through reflection and mindfulness.

The instructors for the course will be Jenah Mead and Ser Anderson. Mead is an artist and experienced educator who is known for her detailed graphite illustrations of local flora and fauna. Anderson is a writer and photographer whose work has appeared in publications such as Montana Naturalist and Camas. The materials included in the course cost will contain some of Mead’s favorite journaling tools, such as toned paper and a micron pen.

The nature journaling program will begin on Monday, April 3 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and the series will last until Monday, May 8. Each lesson is held in the Ellen Knight Classroom. People must pay $125 to register for the class, and discounts are available for Montana Natural History Center members. Museums that offer workshops like this may use flyer printing services to attract more local artists to their classes.
