Volunteers sought for end of month race

Organizers are soliciting volunteers for the 2017 Pound the Pavement 5K/10K in Wentzville. The race is being held as part of the many activities taking place during the St. Charles County Fair.

Volunteers will need to assist with a variety of duties, including handing out water on the course, directing runners to locations, and assisting at the finish line banner to guide runners to water stations. All volunteers will receive a free T-shirt and a one day entry to the fair on Saturday.

Those wishing to run in the race will also receive a one-day admission for the day of the race to the fair along with a Dri-fit T-shirt. The top three finishers in each age group will be awarded a medal.

The event is sponsored by Wentzville Parks, which is a nonprofit organization with the mission of increasing the quality of parks and recreation opportunities within the city.

Volunteers should contact Friends of Wentzville to obtain more information on volunteer opportunities. Runners can register online or the day of the event.

The race will be held on Saturday, July 29 at 6:00 am at Rotary Park, 2577 W. Meyer Road in Wentzville. Registration begins at 6:00 am for those who did not preregister, and the race begins at 7:00 am.

The St. Charles County Fair will also offer a variety of events for attendees of all ages. The fair will be held from Tuesday, July 25 through Saturday, July 29.
