Mercy, St. Louis, is holding a wellness event on June 29, a Saturday, from 7.30am to 11.00am. The screening will take place at the Mercy facility on Zumbehl Road in St. Charles, which is approximately eight miles from St. Peters, and is based on the idea that it’s better to prevent disease before it occurs than try to cure it after it has set in. This screening will help determine a person’s risk factors with regard to such conditions as breast cancer, heart disease, colon cancer, diabetes, and other illnesses.
Mercy is offering free Checks of blood sugar, cholesterol, body mass, and blood pressure. The results of these basic tests can help professionals assess an individual’s overall state of health. In addition to the free tests, Mercy is offering a vascular screening, conducted in three parts, designed to determine a person’s risk for stroke, arterial insufficiency (ABI), and aneurysm. This screening is limited to the first 14 people who register online, and costs $100.
In addition, Mercy’s Mammography Van will be available, with tests billed to a woman’s insurer. In the case of uninsured women, the test may be given for free.
In addition to these screenings, the event features the opportunity for attendees to speak with a physician, access post-screening discussions with Mercy’s health care professionals, and attend cooking demonstrations.
