St. Peters goes to the dogs

The City of St. Peters, in association with the local Rotary Club, is inviting residents of the city and the surrounding area to the “Bark for the Park” Dog Parade & Show. According to an August 21, 2015 news item, this is the third year for the event, which is a fund raiser for the Rotary Club.

Dog lovers who want to participate in the Dog Parade will pay a $20 fee, for which they'll receive a t-shirt. For those owners who want to register their dogs and receive a bandanna commemorating the day, an additional $5 fee is required. Entrants are encouraged to dress up their dogs in costume.

There are nine categories in the Dog Parade, and a $5 fee is required to enter in each category. The winner of each category will then compete for the prize of Top Dog.

In addition to the parade, vendors will be on site from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and there will be water available. Those who wish to purchase food and drink can find goodies at the Gator Island Grill.

The event takes place in St. Peters, on September 27, at 370 Lakeside Park, which is at 1000 Lakeside Park Drive, with the fun starting at 1:00 p.m. Proceeds are used by the Rotary Club to maintain the Dog Park, which is the site of the event.

Event organizers could work with a banner printing company to devise a colorful banner to mark the start of the parade route.
