Goddard schools throughout the nation, including one in St. Peters, took part in raising funds for the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RHMH). Each school strove to meet an individual target of $577, and the school in St. Peters came up with a number of ideas to help them in the effort.
From January 15 through February 15, the local school held a ‘Coins for Kids’ drive spread over the school’s nine classrooms. On Saturday, February 9, the school hosted an open house during which it sold raffle tickets and conducted an art auction. Prizes were baskets donated by local businesses. The school raised a total of $4,731 for RMHC, which put it in first place among all Goddard schools in the country. The total raised by all Goddard schools was more than $175,000.
Goddard schools focus on early childhood development and base their method on research that shows children learn best when they are enjoying themselves. They offer programs that are child-centered and designed to help them gain confidence in themselves as they prepare for future learning experiences. They also use enrichment activities designed to meet the needs of each individual child, and help build his or her social, physical, emotional, and cognitive skills.
School officials could work with local Print companies to develop a mailer that explains the 2013 fundraising drive and looks forward to the next effort. They might use them to contact the businesses that helped this year, with the idea that they could consider increasing support in future.
