Arnold library holds literacy run and bird conservation program

Arnold's Jefferson County Library will be hosting two community-oriented events next month.

The first will be a free Book It Foam Run – a timed 5k and an untimed one-mile fun run. Although the run will be free, registration is required.

A foam run is one in which the runners will be passing through large areas of water-based cosmetic-grade foam bubbles generated by professional foam cannons. The foam will be non-toxic, non-staining, biodegradable, and hypoallergenic.

The run will be focused on Arnold literacy awareness, and will be held at Arnold City Park, 2400 Bradley Beach Road on Saturday, April 18 from 8:00 am to noon.

A week later, the library will present a free Birds & Beyond: Connecting Community with Conservation program.

Wild Birds Unlimited will give a presentation from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm on how to make a bird-friendly home. That will be followed with a Bird Bingo from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm. During this time, organizations including Wild Bird Unlimited, Missouri Master Natualists-Miramiguoa Chapter, Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic, MU Extension, and Missouri Prairie Foundation & Grow Native! will have informal tables set up where guests may talk with environmental enthusiasts, get educational materials and gather Promotional Products. They can handle items such as bird nests, skull replicas, feathers, native plants, and rehab equipment, and take part in conservation-themed activities and crafts.

Birds & Beyond will take place on Saturday, April 25 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Jefferson County Library-Arnold Branch, 1701 Missouri State Road.
