Arnold learns about bees

Missouri State Beekeepers Association will be presenting its annual statewide education conference in Arnold toward the end of June.

This will be an intensive single-day training experience geared to the novice beekeepers to the advanced queen breeders featuring multiple educational tracks, apiary demonstrations, and more than 30 lectures.

The keynote speaker will be Tina Sebestyen, a well-known educator who will speak on Mistakes Beekeeper Make and Why Join a Bee Club. Another speaker will be Dr. Zac Lamas who specializes in colony dynamics and honeybee biology. Cory Stevens will be discussing advanced colony and queen management; Eugene Makovec will discuss his longtime career in Missouri beekeeping and education, and Charles Linder will give a lecture on advanced-level beekeeping.

The all-day beginning beekeeper track will offer information on seasonal management, installing packages and nucs (starter mini colonies), equipment basics and common mistakes. Afternoon breakout sessions will have lectures on intermediate and advanced topics such as Bee Stings and Emergency Treatment, Colon Installation and Management, Cell Builders That Don't Suck and Queen-rearing fundamentals. The Outdoor Live Apiary track will offer demonstrations using live colonies, interactive hive inspections, and practical brood and queen evaluation.

A marketplace will have vendors selling protective gear, beekeeping equipment, smokers, tools, honey extraction equipment and queen-rearing supplies.

Bee-related vendors often have Business Cards sporting images of bees and related apiary items.

MO Bee Day 2026 will take place Saturday, June 20th from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm at First Family Life Center at the First Baptist Church.
