Touch a Truck ready to roll in Oakdale

As another summer transitions to fall, Oakdale families will be congregating at Walton Park for an evening of exploring an assortment of big rigs.

The free Touch a Truck activity, which has been planned with both the young and the young at heart in mind, will see an assortment of trucks, emergency vehicles and other rigs open for the community to explore up close. They can learn how they operate and what they do as part of a two-hour function.

The kids at the gathering will be invited to sit in the driver's seat of the various vehicles, and they can ask questions of the staff and volunteers who will be on hand. Parents are reminded to keep their phone or camera ready so they can take advantage of all the photo ops, and everyone can enjoy the free ice cream served to the crowd.

As a function like this often attracts many locals, it offers a chance for its not-for-profit sector to distribute information about its services to the community. A brochure printing company will be able to lend a hand, and if they are contacted well ahead of time, the participating organizations will no doubt have plenty of materials at the ready.

Oakdale families are invited to attend the Touch a Truck event on September 7. The city’s website offers more information as well as details about other area events.
