One of the services provided by the American Red Cross is hosting blood donation clinics, and it will hold one of these events this summer at the Oakdale Discovery Center.
The not-for-profit organization will join forces with the city of Oakdale to ensure that there is an adequate blood supply to meet demand. The donation process tends to take approximately one hour, and anyone who would like to take part will be able to book an appointment to do so.
When the registrants arrive for their appointment, they will be signed in and asked to show ID, give their complete address, and take part in a brief health screening. After this, a trained professional will collect approximately one pint of blood, and then it will be time to rest for a few minutes and enjoy some refreshments before going about the rest of the day.
