Oakdale to celebrate Arbor Day with tree giveaway

Trees can bring many benefits to a community, and an event will help Oakdale residents add to the city’s urban forest canopy.

A selection of 200 container grown and bare root trees are slated to be given away during the Oakdale Arbor Day celebration. There will be a selection of species available, and their distribution will be accompanied by a document shredding service and collection of school supplies for local families in need.

The trees will be given away free of charge, and they will be handed out for as long as supplies last. Each resident of Oakdale is eligible to receive one free tree, and the numbers will be assigned during the community’s Arbor Day Ceremony. The giveaway will be held in Walton Park.

The Shred-It portion of the day will be taking place outside City Hall, and residents are welcome to bring up to 10 Bags each. Free gifts will be distributed to the first 200 to take advantage of this service, and a printer can offer Promotional Products that can be used for this.

While they wait for their documents to be shredded, members of the public can drop off their donations of hand sanitizer, crayons, facial tissues and other supplies for students at Oakdale schools.

This chance to make the local area a little bit greener will be taking place on April 25. Its Facebook page will have the most up-to-date details about the activity.
