Oakdale outing to visit woods by moonlight

Oakdale activity invites families to strap on their snowshoes and join in the fun of a moonlit winter walk through the woods.

A leisurely snowshoe outing will introduce families to a path lit by luminaries, and when the participants arrive at their destination, they will be treated to a special experience.

The group will gather around a bonfire, and burgers, hot dogs, s’mores and other treats will be served along with steaming cups of hot chocolate. Snowshoes will be provided for those who need them, but anyone who has their own is welcome to bring them along.

As it will be a chilly excursion, everyone is encouraged to dress warmly in layers, and if they wish, a headlamp can be worn as well. While all ages are welcome, anyone who is under 18 will need to have an adult with them, so it may be a suitable idea for a family night activity.

While winter can sometimes feel long and draggy, an outing like this can help to curb the doldrums. Signage to post along the trial can be prepared for the occasion by an area banner printing company.

Tickets to enjoy this starlit snowshoe walk are $5 each, and they are on sale now. The activity will take place at the Oakdale Discovery Center, which is currently closed due to COVID-19 but hopes to be open in time for the walk on February 27.
