As another Oakdale gardening season kicks into high gear, the local horticultural community will be attending a market filled with plants and other supplies.
The Oakdale Landscape Revival Native Plant Expo is right around the corner, and it will give the public a venue where they will be able to purchase new additions to their garden. They will be produced by an assortment of area growers without using systemic insecticides, and the sale will be paired with workshops and a chance to support a local mobile eatery.
The roster of growers for this year's event currently has more than nine companies listed, and there will also be several businesses and not for profit organizations with an informational exhibit set up. Attendees will be able to learn about everything from water conservation to growing native plants, supporting pollinators and attracting wildlife, and they can ask questions as well. A food truck will be parked on site so everyone can purchase a snack or lunch.
A pop-up market can be a fun way to raise funds. Banner printing services for a special event will be available at a local Print professional, and they will be able to work with most budget levels.
This introduction to the joys of going native when it comes to choosing garden plants will be on offer on Saturday, June 3. It will be hosted by the St. Paul Audubon Society at Oakdale Fire Station #1, which can be found at 5000 Hadley Avenue North.
