Clean water is vital to most living things, and an Oakdale area event will highlight the importance of this natural resource.
Dubbed “WaterFest,” the activity will be a free, family-friendly festival that will draw attention to the area's lakes and how they are home to a wide variety of plants, animals, and other organisms. Many of the offerings will be hands on, and there is a sponsorship program in place.
The list of activities and exhibits 0on and near the water will range from rides in a sailboat or Voyageur-style canoe to face painting, a climbing wall, and live performances. There will be an assortment of small watercraft available for reservation, and fishing lessons and an angling contest are also on the agenda. The kids can have their faces painted and take part in arts and crafts.
Hungry attendees can patronize the participating food trucks. There will also be a Water Bar where guests can sample flights of drinking water from local communities. A call has gone out seeking volunteers, who will receive a T-shirt printed with a graphic design to help them stand out and at the same time thank them for their assistance.
The 2024 WaterFest will be set up in Phalen Regional Park on Saturday, June 1. It will run from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm.
