It is hoped that bigger will mean better during a fall Oakdale area celebration that will add some extra fun to the fall season.
Bright orange pumpkins are a sure sign of autumn, and growers of these gourds who feel one of theirs is the biggest are invited to enter the pumpkin weigh-off that will be part of Stillwater’s harvest fest. Many of the entries are expected to tip the scales at more than 1,500lb, and this will be accompanied by a variety of fall-themed activities.
In addition to the competition, the organizers have built a schedule for the festival that will offer a variety of activities. A chili cookoff, pumpkin baking contest and carving displays are all on the agenda, and the adults will be able to sample locally produced wines and craft beers. The Giant Pumpkin Boat Race will hit the waters of the St. Croix River, and a tractor pull will also be taking place.
While the main theme is fun, it also raises awareness about issue facing the local agricultural community. Stationery printers are great sources for award certificates, vendor application Forms, prize vouchers, and many other items that will help to make this type of event complete.
This year’s Stillwater Harvest Fest will happen on the October 10 and 11 weekend. Lowell Park will serve as then venue for the celebration.
