Spring is on the way in Oakdale, and a series of special workshops will welcome the arrival of the season.
The team at Zywiec’s Garden Center in Cottage Grove has added six Planting Parties to its springtime schedule, and this will be the 15th year that they have been on offer for local gardeners. They provide a chance to learn and meet other home horticulturalists, and both green thumbs and newbies alike may find the functions helpful.
Each of the scheduled sessions will see registrants potting up a container garden they can use on a balcony, patio, or other location, and there will be door prize draws and other fun. Planting tips and their advice will be shared, and kids age 16 and up are welcome.
Each registrant will need to supply their own container or purchase one on site, and the staff will care for each arrangement, hardening them off so that they can go outside when the weather is suitable. Tickets are $10 each, and advanced registration is mandatory
Planting parties offer a fun way to help local gardeners connect. Print shops can prepare plant care tip sheets to distribute during a workshop or other activity.
The dates for this year's Zywiec’s container garden workshops will be March 17, 18, 19, and 31, as well as April 1 and 2. Anyone who would like to sign up can do so through the garden center’s website.
