Minneapolis holds Latino film festival

Minneapolis's 13th Annual Cine Latino Film Festival is coming for five days in early October.

The event will be showing 14 Spanish or Portuguese speaking films, fiestas, special guests, and food trucks.

After the opening party beginning at 5:30 pm, a screening of Frankenstein, written and directed by Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro will start at 7:30 pm on Wednesday evening.

On Thursday beginning 5:00 pm, a selection of six Cine Latino Shorts will be shown, and the short films' filmmakers will be in attendance. At 7:30 pm, a full-length feature "I Had the Heart" will depict a father's love of the tango. Lead actor and director Oliver Kolker will give a tango performance afterward.

Friday's screenings will be The Nature of Invisible Things, and The Secret Agent. Beginning at 11:00 am on Saturday, six movies will include Hola Frida (animated show about Frida Kahlo).

Sunday's line up will include free Kid Flicks at 10:30am, noon and 1:30 pm at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Back at the theater, Sunday's four screenings will include Runa Simi with a Peruvian folkloric dance performed afterward.

Admission for each day of screenings will be $17.

Festival organizers often use local printing services for their guide brochure printing.
