The Minnesota Orchestra, based here in Minneapolis, will be celebrating the holidays with four Christmas-themed events.
On December 10th beginning at 7:00 pm, the orchestra will accompany two-time Grammy nominated artist and composer Cody Fry in Cody Fry Christmas. The evening will be memorable with its sing-alongs and special arrangements. Mr. Fry will not only treat the audience to his vocals but will play the piano and guitar.
On Friday December 12th and Saturday December 13th the orchestra will perform the score live and present the film The Muppet Christmas Carol in Disney's The Muppet Christmas Carol in Concert. This concert will be geared to children ages six and up and will run about one hour and 50 minutes.
Bandleader, composer, trumpet soloist, and member of the orchestra, Charles Lazarus will present Merry and Bright, an evening of holiday music featuring Lazarus Brass, Tommy Barbarella on keyboards and piano, Jeff Bailey on bass, David Schmalenberger on drums, and Daryl on percussion. Vocalists will include Bruce A. Henry, Jennifer Grimm and Tonia Hughes Kendrick.
Merry and Bright will take place Sunday, December 16th at 2:00 pm.
December 19th at 8:00 pm and December 20th at 2:00 pm, ballet dancers, aerial artists, and contortionists in Troupe Vertigo will present Cirque Nutcracker with the orchestra.
Stationery printers often use scenes from the Nutcracker on their holiday notecards and Christmas cards.
All performances will be in Orchestra Hall, 1111 Nicollet Avenue.
