Brooklyn Park residents are invited to be among the group that will be offered an introduction to time-honored beverages from Eurasia, many of which are just starting to become available in the state.
The former Russian state of Georgia has been known for a long time for its wine production, and archaeological evidence indicates that it has been made there for at least 8,000 years.
The evening, which will center on Georgian wines, will open with a discussion of these vintages as well as their history and also the background of the region where they are produced. The group will learn about “orange” wines, how they are made and also the process of making them, which can be very labor intensive.
It is expected that, for many of the participants, the highlight of the evening will be an opportunity to sample the wines crafted using these ancient techniques. They will be invited to try both these and modern wines, so that they can compare their similarities and differences.
