The event is touted as a pool party catering to people who identify as “fat,” and their friends and family. Cake Plus-Size Resale gave the following description of the event:
“Fat Splash is by and for fat folks. If this sounds like it’s for you, it is! Friends, partners, and chosen fam are welcome too—as long as they show up as true allies.”
Sponsors for the Fat Splash include Mortgages with Tina, Solcana Fitness, and Katrina DeWit of Engel and Volkers.
A yearly tradition since 2018, the Fat Splash event will feature new upgrades this year. That includes upgraded pools, an all-ages event, a pool concession stand, lower ticket prices, a cannonball contest, vendors, a community raffle, and an event photographer capturing the festivities in photos that participants have the option to access afterward.
The all-ages event at the Family Aquatic Center features a pool with zero-depth entry, a climbing wall above the water, a diving board, water slides, and interactive elements for play. The venue also has lifeguards, chairlifts, locker rooms, family restrooms, and lounge chairs.
Pool parties like these may choose to use poster printing to get the word out in local communities.
Cake’s Fat Splash is happening on Sunday, June 22 from 9:00 am to 11:30 am at the Bloomington Family Aquatics Center at 201 E 90th St.
