Schmitt Music in Bloomington will hold a jazz improv workshop in May led by Jeff Antoniuk.
Learn Jazz Improvisation with Jeff Antoniuk is an hour-long experience where people can develop techniques that help them improve their practice sessions and learn the language of jazz improv. The course will focus on saxophone-specific topics like tone and articulation, though all instrumentalists are allowed to attend the class. The lesson will address the myths surrounding jazz improvisation and teach musicians proper playing techniques.
Jeff Antoniuk is a professional saxophonist and educator who went to the University of North Texas for a Master's Degree in Jazz Performance and Ethnomusicology. He has served as the artistic director for over 50 jazz-related workshops and has taught more than 2,500 jazz classes. Antoniuk was also featured as a soloist for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. He offers an adult jazz camp in Maryland each summer and is the founder of JazzWire, an online learning community for adult jazz musicians.
The jazz improv workshop will take place on Friday, May 31 from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Those interested in taking a class with Antoniuk must register in advance. People who attend the workshop will also receive a discount code for Antoniuk's performance at the Crooner's Supperclub. Musicians who offer similar classes to this can use flyer printing to market their workshops to their intended audiences.
