The Phelan-McDermid Syndrome Foundation (PMSF) will organize a conference in July at the Radisson Blu in Bloomington.
The PMSF Family Conference is a multi-day event where families impacted by Phelan-McDermid Syndrome can meet others with similar experiences and learn from expert presenters. The keynote speaker for the convention is Rick Guidotti, the director of Positive Exposure. Guests can attend lectures given by Alex Kolevzon, Tess Levy, and Audrey Thurm. The topics covered in the conference include Immersive Genetics 101, current clinical trials, and navigating legal processes.
The event will have several family-friendly activities, such as group outings to local attractions like the Crayola Experience, the SEA LIFE Aquarium, and ClimbZone. There will be a field trip for siblings to the Nickelodeon Universe. A summer camp-themed group dance party will be held on the convention's third night. Guests can also enjoy a community dinner and welcome reception. Caregivers may go on an evening night out on the event day.
The family conference will be held from Wednesday, July 17th to Saturday, July 20th. General admission to the event costs $75 per person, which includes all conference sessions, group activities, and meals. Attendees will also receive a commemorative shirt. Those with Phelan-McDermid Syndrome may attend the conference for free.
