Several major construction projects are either underway in Lansing, Michigan, or will soon break ground. Together, the five will continue the evolution of the city in 2017.
SkyVue is a mixed-use student housing project offering 359 units that also has room for retail on the ground level. SkyVue has been under construction since 2015 and should be done by July, 2017, which will give tenants time to move in before Michigan State University begins its fall semester.
Also under construction are East Town Flats, a mixed-use, four-story building on Lansing's east side. There will be 39 residential units on the top three floors, and restaurant and retail space on the first. Six buildings were demolished this summer to make way for the development, which should be finished by summer, 2017. Rajje's Taphouse and Strange Matter Coffee will open in the building.
Costco is also coming to Lansing, and bringing about 150 jobs with it. The warehouse, which is being built from scratch on the former Four Winds Golf Course site, offers 157,000 square feet of space. The project was approved in December, and construction should start early in 2017, with a fall opening planned.
Also planned by not yet underway are 100 Grand River, an apartment complex and 12-story hotel; and the Elevation at Okemos Pointe, an apartment complex and vendor space that resembles the Lansing City Market.
