As beer drinkers seek alternatives to the offerings of the huge major brewers, craft breweries have become more popular across the nation. Now, according to an April 9 news article, a new bar featuring craft beers has opened in Lansing.
The Beer Grotto has 48 beers on tap, which means it has one of the largest selections of brews in the city. Sam Short, co-owner of the bar, noted that Lansing has a lot going for it that led him to open the bar here.
First, he noted that the craft beer idea is just catching on, so there is a lot of room for growth. Second, Short is local, and wants to help his city continue to grow. He is also a co-owner of The Cosmos Pizza Place in the city’s Old Town, as well as Zoobie’s Tavern. He says that many people are becoming craft beer enthusiasts, but there is no one as yet meeting that need.
Of the 48 beers on tap, at least 70% will come from Michigan, according to Jake VanAtta, who is handling the marketing for the bar. He also notes there will be opportunities for patrons to sample the beers, make a selection, and take them home.
The Grotto also offers a tasting menu that complements wine and beer; it features items like seasonal soups, sandwiches, and artisanal cheeses.
The owners could work with a flyer printing company on a handout with a coupon to welcome new customers to the Grotto.
