Clawson workshop to help make going animal free a whole lot easier

Making the switch to a plant-based diet may be easier than many expect, as a Clawson area workshop hopes to prove this summer.

Anyone who has made the decision to make the change to a lifestyle built around plants may find that the Plant Based Nutrition 201 class is just what they have been looking for, and it may also be helpful to anyone who is struggling or needs a refresher. It will equip the participants with both information and inspiration, and can put them in contact with others who have made the same choice.

The assembled group will learn about ways they can avoid the “danger zones” in the typical American diet, and oil-free cooking techniques will be discussed. The attendees will also find out how to stock their pantry with the basics needed for plant-based cookery, and how to get started so that the adjustment is an easy one.

When the session wraps up and it is time for them to head for home, the participants will walk away with a wealth of resources that can help support them in their efforts. Print shops can supply reusable cloth Totes to hold these sorts of items, which will make it simple to distribute them to the group.

This chance to hit the ground running when it comes to choosing a lifestyle free of animal-based food and other products will be offered on August 3. It will be held in Ernest W. Seaholm High School’s Media Center.
