Clawson seeks environmental stewards
Taking part in an environmental stewardship project can be satisfying, and one of these activities is seeking support from the Clawson area.
Cummington Nature Center in Royal Oak has made arrangements to hold a day that will give its wooded areas some care, and all assistance will be appreciated to help lighten the load. The helpers will meet up at the Leafdale entrance, and there will be personnel on hand to support the activity.
The volunteers will be undertaking an assortment of horticulture tasks, and the removal of invasive plants from the meadow, trash and debris clean-up, and trail upkeep are all on the agenda. Everyone is asked to bring along a pair of sturdy work gloves and secateurs or clippers if they have them, and they should also bring sunscreen and bug repellent. A hat and long sleeves and pants are also recommended. The scheduled duration of the activity is one hour.
Engaging the public in a stewardship project like this offers a way of transforming the general public into interested stakeholders. A poster printing company will be able to help spread the word so that anyone who is interested will know how and where they can get involved.
The Cummington Woods Work Day has been scheduled for the morning of September 4. Everyone is asked to arrive by no later than 11:00 am.
