Clawson invited to take steps in support of autism

Both autistic and neurotypical people alike are asked to put on their sneakers and hit the road for a special fundraising day.

In response to Covid-19, the organizers have found a way to make the 2021 Autism Hero Walk safe for those who take part. Presented by the DTE Foundation, the event will be taking over the Detroit Zoo for one day in late July. Every fundraiser in this Clawson area activity will receive free entry to the facility, and to help make social distancing easier, a capacity limit of 900 people will be able to be in the zoo at a given time.

While every registrant who raises at least $25 will receive admission to the grounds, the first 900 will be able to attend the Autism Hero Walk on its scheduled date. Additional fundraisers will receive a voucher for free entry at a later time, and they can do the walk at a location of their choice.

As the event will be hosted in support of the autistic community, it will be a sensory-friendly experience. A resource fair is on the agenda, and everyone who fundraises will receive a backpack filled with Promotional Products printed with an Autism Hero Walk’s graphic design.

This chance for community members to become everyday heroes for local people with autism will be held on July 25. The Autism Alliance of Michigan’s website will have the latest information about this fundraiser.
