Glen Campbell rose to fame thanks to songs such as “Rhinestone Cowboy,” but many may not be aware that he also battled Alzheimer’s disease. His wife will be the hostess for an evening for professionals who work with those living with this neurological disease, and it will be focused on the family.
Kim Campbell cared for her husband throughout his journey with Alzheimer's, and she will share her experiences, challenges and lessons learned. The focus of the Clawson area seminar will be on how the disease can impact the entire family, and it is intended for nurses, social workers, caseworkers and other professionals.
The learners in the workshop will find out how Alzheimer's and other Forms of dementia can impact a family, especially if they take on an intensive caregiver role. They will learn about the challenges these individuals can face, the supports that can help them and how these can assist the family members in navigating the healthcare system.
The organizers of the function explained that one of its components will be teaching the attendees how they can help caregivers to make sure they look after their own mental, physical and emotional health. As it is a continuing education course, credit may be granted to the participants. Stationery printers will be able to supply custom designed certificates of completion, which can be presented to each of the learners who completes the course.
The “A Rhinestone Cowboy...His Legacy Lives on!” symposium will be on offer on October 24th. It will be held in the San Marino Club in Troy.
