Clawson area activity to teach kids etiquette
Knowing proper etiquette for social situations can be an important part of growing up, and a Clawson area afternoon class will give youngsters the chance to brush up on their manners.
The Detroit Academy of Etiquette is offering seats in its Modern Manners for Children workshop. Designed for young people from the ages of 8 to 15, it will give the learners the confidence to navigate a variety of social activities with class and kindness, with plenty of practice included.
The session, which will take place over a luncheon meal, will open with the importance of introductions and making a good first impression. Greetings, handshakes, and making polite small talk will be discussed, and tips will be shared for conversation starters. Speaking with adults will be covered, as will manners when using a phone or other forms of communication. Being a great guest or host and how to graciously receive a gift is on the agenda, as is proper behavior when at the table, and everyone will pick up skills that they can call on in the future during leadership situations.
Tickets for this two-hour long session are $125 each, which includes the meal. Print shops will be happy to prepare certificates of competition and other personalized materials for a workshop.
Modern Manners for Children will be on offer on Sunday, November 17 at 380 South Bates in Birmingham. It will begin promptly at 1:00 pm.
