Work progresses on school construction in Saco

The construction of the Saco Primary School and the Saco Elementary School is making progress.

Significant progress is being made at the elementary school, where the foundation is nearly finished and work continues on the masonry, structural steel, and roofing framework. One wing has begun to take shape on its second floor, and crews are installing piping for a radiant climate-controlled system connected to the geothermal infrastructure of the campus. At the primary school site, foundation work is still underway and is expected to become a major focus in the coming weeks.

In addition to the buildings, significant headway is being made on the systems and amenities that will support the campus. Inspection milestones have been met, efforts to bring permanent power online are progressing, and construction continues on underground utilities, lighting, and geothermal facilities. Brickwork on the western exterior of the elementary school's gym and multipurpose space is nearly finished, while planning and site preparation for a pedestrian bridge over Mill Brook remain active. The bridge will ultimately connect both schools to the Eastern Trail.

Funding for the $140m project is being made possible by a contribution of 72% of the cost by the state. Updates on the progress of such projects can be disseminated throughout a community with flyer printing.

The new campus is expected to be completed in time for the 2028–2029 academic year.
