The City Theater in Biddeford will be opening its 2021-2022 season later this month.
The first performance will be “The Marvelous Wonderettes.” This is a non-stop pop musical that was created and written by Roger Bean. It tells the story of four girls from Springfield High School who are attending the prom in 1958. They are the Wonderettes with hopes and dreams of performing and have the chance to do so 10 years later at their class reunion. The show includes popular songs from the 1950s and 1960s, including “Wedding Bell Blues,” “Dream Lover,” and “I Only Want to be with You.” Residents of Saco will surely be among those in attendance.
City Theater is an arts venue that performs year-round and is the anchor of the cultural and arts community in Biddeford. Such special shows as these are often made known to the theatergoing public with poster printing services.
The cast comprises Kelly Mosher as Cindy Lou, Emily Davis as Betty Jean, Jackie Grigg as Missy, and Brie Rocher as Suzy. They will also be at the Biddeford Art Walk on this Friday, July 16, with performances at 5:40 pm, 6:10 pm, 6:30 pm, and 6:50 pm.
The show will run from Friday, July 23 through Saturday, August 7. There will be a matinee on Sundays at 2:00 pm with shows on Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 pm.
