The staff and board of LearningWorks will be holding a Dinner + Cookbook Celebration next month in Scarborough. Food-loving residents of nearby Saco will not want to miss this special event.
The new cookbook was created by a partnership of the culinary arts students from LearningWorks YouthBuild and Molly Haley, a photographer. The dinner itself will be inspired by the students and will be prepared by Lake & Co. Portland Twist will provide the beverages and dessert. The event will feature a raffle which guests can enter to win one of three prizes, and there will also be readings of essays written by the students.
LearningWorks endeavors to strengthen the community by providing free programs for families, adults, and children in Southern Maine. Its goal is to provide personal and academic support for those who do not have access to such resources within traditional educational structures. LearningWorks offers expertise in social, emotional, and youth development that enable its students to reach their potential and achieve success in the world. Proceeds of the event will go towards supporting their free community programs.
Sponsors of the event include Clark Insurance, Martin’s Point Health Care, Bangor Savings Bank, and Spinnaker Trust. Often, such sponsors contribute to flyer printing services which can be used to promoter events throughout a region.
The Dinner + Cookbook Celebration will be on Thursday, June 9 at the Broadturn Farm in Scarborough from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
