Saco to build new splash pad

Ground has been broken by the Saco Parks and Recreation Department on the anticipated Saco Community Center Splash Pad.

The Saco Parks and Recreation Department has collaborated with the Rotary Club of Biddeford-Saco on this family-friendly project. The goal of the project is to create an accessible and safe space outdoors where children of all abilities and ages can enjoy playing in the water in the city of Saco.

Other organizations that have supported this project through generous monetary donations include Saco River Acupuncture and Wellness, the Animal Hospital of Saco, and Atlantic Control. The Rotary Club led a fundraiser over the summer that raised over $15,000 for the project.

The splash pad will be on Franklin Street and will cover 1,700 square feet. It will be equipped with seven water features that will include a rain curtain, dumping buckets, rings, and a red-and-white-striped lighthouse with six spraying nozzles. Each feature is activated with a child-friendly button, which begins a cycle of 15 minutes of water play.

News about such unique offerings and more details about their features is often made available with flyer printing.

Construction activity is scheduled to begin soon and to be completed this fall for testing. The splash pad is expected to open on Thursday, May 15, 2025 and will operate from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm from May 15 through October 15 each year.
