The Pastel Society of Maine (PSME) is currently holding the 19th annual juried show of the work of 53 pastel artists at the Saco Museum. Educational displays about the medium are on display, along with the pastel works.
Artists in the show will also be selling note cards, small prints, and other items in the gift shop. Flyer printing is often used to list artists and their items for sale.
Suzanne DeLesseps, PSA, IAPS M/C, PSME, will be presenting a talk on her experiences using pastels at the Museum from 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Saturday, October 5. DeLesseps has traveled and painted extensively and can bring to light the intersectionality of the medium with her travels.
Established in 1999, the PSME promotes awareness in the public of pastels and enables local and regional pastel artists to network with each other. Those who are members of the PSME meet on a regular basis featuring an artist demonstration or educational program. The membership is also involved in workshops, retreats, paint outs and paint ins, and exhibitions. A newsletter is published several times a year and the PSME has a lending library to which all members have access. There are currently 95 members in the PSME from Maine and across the United States and Canada.
The exhibit will be opened through Saturday, October 26.
