Apartments at the Forge Collection on Main Street in Saco are available for renting.
The apartments are in what was once a commercial space known as Unit 91 on Saco Island. They are owned by Ted Moore, of Glover Properties in Massachusetts. It was known for its bright yellow awning, which has since been removed.
Moore owns 31,000 square feet of the building which consist of one- and two-bedroom units and are within a short walk to an Amtrak Downeaster station, as well as the downtown areas of Biddeford and Saco. The Island Terrace Owners Association owns the upper three floors, which house 90 condominiums. There are three restaurants on the island with another one opening soon.
Most of the apartments are under 1,000 square feet and include a storage area, parking under the building, utilities, and new appliances, among other features. Apartments have private patios, shielded by large planters. Some of the apartments still need finishing touches such as kitchen cabinets and other amenities. Brochure printing is often used to provide more details about such units and their features.
The building is on the National Register of Historic Places and is part of a mill complex that covers 38 acres in Biddeford and Saco. The name of the complex is a nod to the industrial base of the city, which included an iron forge for over a century.
