JPMorgan Chase & Co. is planning to open a retail banking facility in Saco.
Chase will be opening a branch in what was once the location of a Krispy Kreme at the intersection of Smith Lane and Main Street in Saco near a ConvenientMD Urgent Care facility. The former Krispy Kreme will be re-built and will have a freestanding drive-through window.
A spokeswoman for Chase based in Boston, Briana Curran, said that Saco has many small businesses and consumers such that Chase will be able to support all their banking needs. She added that Chase has a growing customer base in Maine, with close to 250,000 business and consumer clients. Chase is able to support the community with its mobile app and online presence as well as its in-person services.
Chase is looking to open up to five branches in southern Maine by the end of next year. These five branches will employ close to 50 people, many of whom will most likely require business card printing services. A branch is scheduled to open by the end of June in downtown Portland with one in Westbrook by the end of the year, and then one each in Yarmouth and Falmouth.
Curran said that the current focus of Chase is on the greater Portland area and will consider other parts of Maine in the longer term.
